 Well everyone I've finally made it. Today is my last day at the mtc LFG!!!! This week was good but I'm ready to get out of here and travel for a nice 24 hours😀


I don't even know what to write about cause I feel like Bill Murray in groundhog day but it's chill

It's really cool to see how my Portuguese has progressed since I've been here though. I'm not perfect at all but I can tell that I've made big improvements since the first day so yay!!! My tutoring teacher served in cabo verde so me and my companion asked him to teach us some creole. These are the phrases I know:
-Modi ki bu txama? (What is your name)
-A mi ki ta mandi li. (I am the boss here)
-Tu drete? (You cool?)
-Kuzé ki bo fla mós? (What did you just say to me dude?)

This week in class my teacher was trying to tell us what the Portuguese word for rainbow was so she drew a rainbow on the board and then wrote ROYGBIV underneath it. Then this Canadian Elder in my district goes "does that mean lgbtq in Portuguese?" And he was dead serious. It was literally the funniest thing in the world Canadians are so funny he even brought his own Canadian maple syrup.

We play volleyball every single day and I am definitely progressing but the problem is that everyone else is progressing as well so I am still on the bottom of the totem pole of talent. I leave everyday with bruises all over my arm because I don't know how to hit the ball correctly but as long as the ball is over the net it does not matter. Go big or go home!!!!

Anyway that's pretty much all for this week. The next time you get an email from me it'll be from the middle of the ocean!!!!!!!! I can't wait to serve the people of creole and to have no idea what they're saying😀

  Hello everybody yes I am alive yes it feels like I have been gone for 5 years and yes there is a reason they call this spiritual prison Hahaha in reality I've actually been loving the mtc it feels like a high school and college reunion all in one! I've seen basically a million people I know which has been MUITO FIXE! It makes it a little easier to adapt  All of my classes are in full Portuguese and you're not allowed to speak any English while you're in there and it makes my head feel like it's going to explode!! Woooo! It's actually chill though I'm not too stressed about learning the language tbh cause I'm gonna have to restart when I get out to the field😃 Everybody told me the food is super gross but luckily for me I already acclimated (somebody tell me if i used that word wrong) to it during my caf days at byuh so I knew immediately to not eat basically anything and went straight to the cottage cheese and peaches😍😍😍😍 lmaooo it does kind of fee...

  Man oh man what a WEEK! I am going to be 100% honest right now when I say that I genuinely love the MTC. Others may beg to differ but everyday is so fun and it probably helps that I've been here for like 2 seconds and I leave in a WEEK! (from tomorrow) Yes that is correct I have received my travel plans and I'll be leaving next Tuesday (the 11th) to Cape Verde!! I feel very blessed that I got my visa and I'm able to go straight there because my whole district got their reassignments today so they won't be going to Portugal for a little while. S/o Cape Verde for being chill like that. You may be wondering, whaaaaatttt she's a queen??? Wheat-ling???? Me and the girl's in my district have finally stopped going to bed at 10:15 because we remembered that we brought cards so now every night (the past 2 nights) we have played very intense games of monkey bridge and the sister that wins is then deemed as the queen the next day.
