I MADE IT TO AFRICA LETS GO

 HELLO EVERYBODY!!!!!!

Yes! I am alive and well! It's been kind of a crazy week but I am genuinely so happy to be here.

I'm serving in Tarrafal and it's this little beach town in the mountains it's seriously one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I can see the ocean from our apartment and the beach is like a 5 minute walk from our place so we went there today for pday and played soccer and put our feet in the water it was heavenly and it took everything in me to not jump in😃

It is so hot here. I thought it would be like Hawaii but boy oh boy was I wrong. I sweat 24/7 because it's so hot and humid and ac doesn't exist so I just try my best to walk in the shade lol.

The language is hard but it's good and I can tell that I'm progressing more and more everyday! If someone speaks Portuguese to me I can understand most of what they're saying but if they're speaking creole I just smile and nod and then look at my trainer so she can tell me what they said. It's only my 5th day so I'm just trying not to be hard on myself because I know it'll come with time! For now I just say hi to about every person I see and then I let my companion handle the rest of the conversation it's a nice little trade off we have.

Cape verde is definitely different than Utah haha we walk on cobblestone roads and dirt paths everyday and there's wild dogs and cats everywhere. Everyone lives in half finished concrete houses but even though they don't have much every time we go teach someone we always leave with something they gave us like limes or little cookies or corn or something like that. It's so sweet that even though they hardly have anything they still look for ways to serve us:,).

The people here are amazing and kind and so patient with me when I try to speak to them. They all have a hard time saying my name so a lot of them just call me Sister Nova (new) cause I'm a new missionary hahaha.

My trainer is Sister Cluff and she is AMAZING. I seriously feel so blessed to have her she's been teaching me so much and she's so much like me so we get along so well. God really knew what He was doing putting us together.

I don't have much time left but I just wanted to let you all know that I'm doing so good and I love it here so much. I've adjusted way better than I thought i would and I really love the work and teaching (watching my companion teach) about the gospel. God is good, the gift of tongues is real, the spirit is the real teacher, and everyone is a child of God, even the men that follow you everywhere;) I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
